Commander Shepard more like Awkward-In-Social-Situations Shepard tbh
“I’m curious… what material is your face made of?”
Shepard GURL you can’t just ask people/robots what their face is made from
remember when this was going to be a quality mass effect blog
no, me neither
hm yes excellent
This blog is temporarily on hiatus until I get my laptop fixed! The whole thing sorta, combusted and so now I have none of my mass effect videos/etc to make anything so until I get it fixed, sorry! (I managed to save my save files, and isn’t that what really matters?)
Is there any definitive explanation for the translators? I ask because I keep seeing fics that make Shepard bilingual (usually as a ~speshul snowflake mary sue~ character, but alas) but would that actually work in the universe? I imagine that it’d just be translated into
(Whoops, reblogged to personal) Ooh, thank you so much! I hadn’t seen that codex entry. Would that mean that, for example, if Shepard spoke to someone (using the translator) and switched languages halfway through, they would not notice because the translator would translate both to, uh, Turian?
Is there any definitive explanation for the translators? I ask because I keep seeing fics that make Shepard bilingual (usually as a ~speshul snowflake mary sue~ character, but alas) but would that actually work in the universe? I imagine that it’d just be translated into x language for whoever’s listening to it, yes? And if so, does that mean that the translator would translate human languages, too?
- Day Eight: Anything you wish they had kept from Mass Effect, in Mass Effect 2?
“Shepard! I thought you were dead?!” “I got better.”
Honestly, I thought Mass Effect 2 was a complete step-up from the original game. Contrary to popular opinion, I honestly prefer the streamlined ‘inventory’ and leveling, because I’m one of those people who play it for the story more than the combat and RPG-like elements. If I /had/ to choose one thing, I guess it’s that the story is tighter in the first game than the first; the second feels slightly directionless.
- Day Nine: Best Piece of DLC?
“They’re really selling the ‘geth did it’ message. I bet you can’t even say ‘Reapers’ without inciting a panic…Reapers!”
As much as I loved LotSB, the combat felt awkward and dragged on, minus the Yahg fight. Kasumi’s DLC was amazing, and Kasumi is one of my favourite companions, I wish she’d been included in the original game.
- Day Seven: Favorite Alien Species?
“Amonkira, Lord of Hunters, grant that my hands be steady, my aim be true, and my feet swift. And should the worst come to pass, grant me forgiveness.”
It’s a toss up between the drell and turians (dem voice effects), but I’ll have to go with Drell. As a whole, the race has a fascinating but incredibly sad history, and Bioware has really turned the typical ‘reptilian race’ on its head. I wish they’d been in Mass Effect 1! I also really enjoy that Bioware is not afraid of shying away from showing a deeply religious race, especially with such a beautiful religion (not being religious myself, all the religions in the Mass Effect universe are fascinating to me.)
